मंगलवार को राज्यपाल लेफ्टिनेंट जनरल गुरमीत सिंह (से नि) गुजरात पहुंचे। गुजरात पहुंचने पर राज्यपाल आचार्य देवव्रत ने उनका स्वागत किया। गुजरात भ्रमण के दौरान उन्होंने गांधीनगर स्थित भास्कराचार्य राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष अनुप्रयोग और भू-सूचना विज्ञान संस्थान(BISAG) का भ्रमण किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने संस्थान में किए जा रहे अभिनव अनुप्रयोगों की विस्तृत जानकारी प्राप्त की। संस्थान के अधिकारियों द्वारा राज्यपाल के समक्ष एक विस्तृत प्रस्तुतीकरण भी दिया गया।
संस्थान के अधिकारियों ने जानकारी दी की संस्थान भारत सरकार के मंत्रालयों और राज्य सरकार के विभागों/एजेंसियों के साथ आपसी समन्वय के साथ काम करता है और इस प्रकार सरकार के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों में योजना और विकास गतिविधियों के लिए सैटेलाइट कम्यूनिकेशन और भू-स्थानिक प्रौद्योगिकी का उपयोग करने के लिए एक राष्ट्रीय स्तर की एजेंसी के रूप में उभरा है।
राज्यपाल ने कहा कि उत्तराखंड सामरिक और भौगौलिक दृष्टि से महत्वपूर्ण राज्य है। यहाँ “सैटेलाइट कम्यूनिकेशन” भू- सूचना एवं संचार ( Geo Information and Communication ) जैसी तकनीकों का और बेहतर तरीक़े से क्रियान्वयन किए जाने की संभावना है। राज्यपाल ने कहा संस्थान द्वारा गति शक्ति परियोजना हेतु तकनीकी और विशेषज्ञ समाधान उपलब्ध कराए जा रहे हैं। उत्तराखंड में भी गति शक्ति के क्षेत्र में गम्भीरता से कार्य किया जा रहा है। इसके लिए औद्योगिक विकास विभाग के साथ साथ उत्तराखंड स्पेस ऐप्लिकेशन सेंटर(USAC) को भी तकनीकी समन्वय हेतु नामित किया गया है।
पर्वतीय राज्य होने के नाते उत्तराखंड के दुर्गम स्थानों तक जन सेवाओं की पहुँच तकनीकी के माध्यम से ही सम्भव है। उन्होंने कहा कि केंद्रीय संस्थानों के साथ मिलकर उत्तराखण्ड में आर्टिफ़िशल इंटेलीजेंस, रोबॉटिक्स और अन्य आधुनिक तकनीकों के माध्यम से विकास योजनाओं का सफल क्रियान्यवयन किया जा सकता है। राज्यपाल ने कहा की उत्तराखंड में तकनीक के क्षेत्र बहुत अधिक संभावनाएं हैं। इसके लिए आईटी विशेषज्ञों व अन्य अधिकारियों का भ्रमण संस्थान में कराया जाएगा।
